Well given that Research ships take a minimum of a week to unlock from start date let alone the XP requirements which is 3-3.6 million XP and she'd have to be doing research as it also is required.
XP can be grinded pretty fucking quick for where she is at (level 11+) but still takes time and more important a fuck ton of Oil.
Personal experience but by the time I got to actually focusing on Research ships I was burning through them in about 7-10 days a ship (depended on which factions XP were needed) to unlock them. It is not the hard part of Research ships and the new Handbook stuff they added this last update also has a ton of Combat Data's to skip some of XP grind for research ships.
Edit - As someone just mentioned that is just unlocking, limit breaking them requires BP's which is where the real grind of Research ships lie.
